The Northern State Medical University (NSMU)was established in 1936 and it is located in Arkhangelsk. The Northern State Medical University (NSMU is the center of the medical education in the North of Russia.

The University is recognized by WHO (World Health Organization), ECFMG (USA), Medical Council of India (as per MCI Rules). NSMU is member of AMSE (Association of Medical Schools of Europe). After passing degree from NSMU students are eligible for MCI, USMLE (USA) or PLAB (UK) Exams.

Nowadays about 5500 students study in Northern State Medical University. The University buildings and clinics are provided with up-to-date equipment: computers, films and video aids, and other modern appliances. There are 55 departments, 27 of them are clinical based in the best clinics of the city.

The Northern State Medical University has good international relations, takes an active part in the work of the medico-ecological program of Barents Region and carries on exchanges of specialists with the leading educational institutions of the world.

Student life

The Medical University provides all the possibilities for students and lecturers to realize their aspirations. Students participate in folk dance group "Youth",a pop dance group, a show-ballet, an amateur theater, a break dancing group.

There are many fitness clubs, sport centers and clubs to choose from. Depending on the season you can play football or ice hockey, go for skiing, bicycle etc. There are possibilities in indoor sports from tennis to volleyball and from step-aerobic to martial arts. Probably the best place for having a refreshing jogging with great view is along the river North Dvina.

There are 3 hostels in Northern State Medical University within the territory of the University itself. The Apartment available are on 3- 5 sharing, depending on Rooms Size. The hostels have 2 kitchens on each floor where students can cook their food. The Continental Food is available in canteen (Indian, Malaysian, Chinese and Arabic cuisine). The hostels are under 24 Hour Security Surveillance.

Eligibility- He / She should have obtained aggregate 50% marks in the Physics / Chemistry / Biology/English in the 12th standard. As per the requirement of the Medical Council of India. There are no entrances examinations and the admissions are strictly on a first come first served basis. From world over there are large number of applicants and the seats are limited therefore, there is an added benefit to those applicants who apply early. The admission will start from January 2017.
